Dassault Aviation Rolls Out First Falcon 5X

Dassault Aviation today lifted the veil on the highly anticipated Falcon 5X, which establishes a new benchmark in the large cabin, long range business aviation market.
Presented at Dassault’s Bordeaux-Mérignac final assembly facility before an audience of 400 customers, operators, suppliers and certification authority representatives, the 5X will offer the largest cabin cross-section of any purpose built business jet. And its 5,200 nm (9,630 km) range will permit it to connect the majority of the world’s most heavily traveled city pairs.
Yet the new twinjet will be more fuel efficient than any other business jet in its category and will feature an approach speed of 105 knots – down in the turboprop range – offering more airport options for business jet operators.
Announced at the National Business Aviation Association Convention in Las Vegas in October 2013, the Falcon 5X will be equipped with a new ultra-efficient wing, an advanced digital flight control system derived from the Rafale fighter jet and a brand new Snecma Silvercrest engine offering 15% better fuel efficiency than any other powerplant in its thrust class.
Other new features include a redesigned cockpit equipped with the third generation of Dassault’s award winning EASy flight deck and state of the art aircraft and engine health monitoring systems.
“The Falcon 5X was designed to answer operator demand for an aircraft in the 5,000 nm range that could provide more space and comfort than existing large body jets while combining the handling qualities, the low speed performance and operating economics which are the hallmark of Falcons,” said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “Customers have already responded to the new aircraft with enthusiasm and we expect it to become every bit as popular as the 7X, the fastest selling Falcon we’ve ever built.”
Final assembly and testing of the Falcon 5X is taking place at the Mérignac facility near Bordeaux (France), which has seen the delivery of more than 8,000 Dassault civil and military aircraft, including 2,300 Falcons, since it opened in 1949.
Advanced Ground Testing Underway
The first 5X was powered up and started system ground tests last autumn. It was joined by aircraft no. 2 earlier this year.
Testing on the global simulation bench, which replicates the 5X’s main systems, is well advanced and the static and fatigue test campaign on a dedicated airframe has begun.
Testing of the Falcon 5X’s Silvercrest engine is also progressing, both on the ground and on Snecma’s flying test bed.
The aircraft’s maiden flight is anticipated before the end of the summer.

SCA to Launch New Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth in North America for Pristine Wiper Results

Philadelphia, PA – May 5, 2015 – Today, SCA, the producer of the Tork brand of Away-from-Home professional hygiene products, announces the launch of a new extremely low-lint wiper for technical cleaning tasks involving sensitive surfaces. Designed to meet the needs of clients in lint and static electricity-sensitive industries such as electronics, aircraft manufacturing, printing, vehicle painting and food processing, the Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth delivers extremely low-lint cleaning, certified anti-static properties, excellent solvent use and a high absorption capacity of oil and water.
“At SCA, many of our innovations come directly from customer experience feedback. When our customers who work with highly sensitive surfaces told us low-lint should be as close to no lint as possible, we got to work,” said Trevor Kelley, product manager for SCA’s Away from Home Professional Hygiene business in North America. “The Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth answers this need, enabling professionals to easily achieve pristine results.”
Purpose-based design for a variety of industries
Offering softness, strength, absorbency and low-linting, the Tork Industrial Low-Lint Cleaning Cloth is designed to improve the process of cleaning, sanitizing or disinfecting sensitive components, tools and surfaces across a range of industries:
• Electronics: Cleaning and polishing exterior casings and interior parts requires a strong and soft solution that leaves no residues. Suitable for use in an electrostatic protective area, this wiper will help prevent harmful static discharge.
• Aircraft manufacturing: Tested to Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS) 3819C, this cloth delivers the precise cleaning required for interlocking parts, as well as a polished look with no dye.
• Print Shops: In an environment where preparing of surfaces for print can make the difference between a perfect job and a reorder, this cloth’s absorbency and low-linting make the shop experience much smoother.
• Food processing: These facilities benefit from the clean “finishing touch” this wiper provides on equipment and countertops, as well as absorbency for working with water, solvents, sanitizers, and disinfectants.

The Aquasol Corporation Launches Highly Advanced,
Affordable Combustion Analyzer

North Tonawanda, NY – The Aquasol Corporation recently launched its newest innovation – the PRO C-100 Combustion Analyzer, ideally suited for determining the percentage of oxygen that is expelled during combustion. This handheld, digital analyzer has been designed and manufactured for use in the HVAC, automotive, aerospace, metallurgy and oil industries.

Aquasol has naturally expanded into these industries after great success with its PRO OX-100 Oxygen Monitor for the hi-tech welding industry where it is a known world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of advanced test and measurement instrumentation.

Made in the USA, the CE Approved PRO C-100 measures down to 0.1% oxygen resolution. Measuring oxygen released from combustion can establish whether the mixture is air lean, meaning the value of oxygen falls short of the rated or air rich, when the value of oxygen exceeds the rated. Combustion efficiency is optimized when air and fuel are supplied so that both the unburned fuel loss and the heat loss is minimized. The PRO C-100 makes it easy to improve combustion efficiency, which conserves fuel and lowers expenses, keeping companies running at the best of their ability.

The PRO C-100 offers data logging capabilities, allowing the operator to create permanent records for easy export using USB interface to a PC in Microsoft® Excel and plain text format. A built-in audiovisual alarm can be custom set to emit light and sound off when the oxygen value falls below the fixed level. Operators can easily view multiple readings simultaneously as one screen displays CO2, O2 and excess air readings.

The PRO C-100 is self-calibrating, allowing the operator to easily recalibrate on site using ambient air. It is also equipped with an internal pump as opposed to a hand pump, freeing the operator from constant, repetitive pumping. This analyzer offers multiple gas composition settings to cater to the operator’s specific application. It is equipped with a rechargeable 9V battery and charger designed for universal voltage and is also programmable in four languages including English, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

“Aquasol has provided a highly advanced instrument that is cost effective yet offers distinct advantages” said Mike Hacikyan, President, Aquasol Corporation. “The PRO C-100 is a Combustion Analyzer unlike any other in the market with numerous features and unsurpassed capabilities, new to the HVAC industry. We are proud to offer this new technology.”

Specialty Abrasive Mounted Point for Airline Seat Track Cleaning

Rex-Cut Abrasives offers a specialty mounted point that is precisely shaped to match the dimensions inside airline seat tracks to clean the top, bottom, and sides simultaneously. Rex-Cut says this cuts approximately 1/3 of the cleaning time out of the entire seat track cleaning process.

Cleaning and polishing aircraft seat tracks is typically a process with multiple steps. The original process starts with an oversized resin fiber disc on a special mandrel, which is used to clean the sides of the rail. A ¾” disc then cleans the bottom of the rail, and finally the top of the rail. To save on labor, Rex-Cut designed a special Seat Track Cleaner mounted point to make this process more efficient.

The savings these Seat Track Cleaners provide is just not in labor alone, says the company. Airlines were often throwing away and buying new metal tracks rather than cleaning the dirty ones. This “rip and replace” method was often more cost effective than the complex labor-intensive original process.

Available in two specifications, Rex-Cut Seat Track Cleaners have been adopted by contractors that service major airlines and several maintenance facilities. As most abrasive wheel shapes are made to widespread common industry standards, Rex-Cut says it is proud to deliver a unique application that should dramatically reduce seat track maintenance costs for airlines.
