Valencia Service Center Plans Customer Opening in September and Employee Training is Underway
Cessna Aircraft is planning customer festivities Sept. 17 to mark the grand opening of its new company-owned Citation Service Center at Valencia Airport, Manises, Spain.
The Valencia Citation Service Center will have approximately 62,400 square feet (5,800 square meters) of hangar space and 38,000 square feet (3,500 square meters) of office and administration space. The center will provide full line and base maintenance, warranty work, paint, small modifications and mobile support teams.
“Cessna’s Valencia Service Center will meet the increasing demand from a growing number of Citation owners and operators in the region and their ranks are expected to get larger in the years ahead,” said Marcelo Casenove, Cessna manager of Customer Solutions.
“The Valencia location will complement our Paris service center,” he added. “Valencia Airport is convenient to many cities popular with European and Northern Africa Citation operators.”
The newest location is the result of extensive studies, research and negotiations with Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA), Spain’s airports administrative office. Cessna and AENA signed a land grant contract for a location at the Valencia Airport (LEVC), located within the city of Quart de Poblet, just west of the city of Valencia.
Valencia Employee Training Underway in U.S.
Seventeen new employees who will work in maintenance at the facility have been hired and already have received six months of training on all Citation models with FlightSafety International and are currently receiving a year of on-the-job training at Cessna-owned service centers in the United States. The new employees already aboard include 12 mechanics with an EASA B1 license and five avionics/electrical professionals with an EASA B2 license.
During their on-the-job training the new Valencia employees learn processes, interact with customers, participate in decision-making training, become comfortable with Cessna’s culture of quality and safety and learn from high-tenure employees across all models and modifications.
“The group traveled to Valencia in mid-July to set up the shops to get ready to turn wrenches,” said Casenove. Additional administrative and management positions will be filled this summer. The facility will open for business on Sept. 3, prior to the grand opening ceremony, Casenove indicated. The Citation Service Center in Valencia will be English speaking, but employees will also converse in Spanish, English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Portuguese and Valencian-Catalan.

Clarke joins from BBA Aviation, where he served for 24 years in progressively responsible positions culminating in his role as Sales & Marketing drector for Sub Sahara Africa. Previously, his sales and technical responsibilities covered the UK, Europe, Scandinavia and Africa.
As director of Technical Services, Clarke is responsible for the management, refinement and growth of the Rizon Jet Technical Services that currently include Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) facilities in Doha and Biggin Hill in London.
Chief Executive Officer of Rizon Jet, Captain Hassan Al-Mousawi, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike to the team. Our technical services business is growing rapidly and Mike’s experience and expertise will prove invaluable as we further develop this important arm of our business to deliver world class support. His appointment will enhance our seamless offering through both Doha and Biggin Hill, and ensure a consistent level of quality service for our Middle Eastern customers in Europe, and our European customers in the Middle East.”
Rizon Jet’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) division provides technical support for an array of aircraft types. Certification and approvals are being developed all the time, and currently cover a range of Bombardier and Hawker types.
Alongside its MRO, charter and management divisions, Rizon Jet offers independent private jet owners access to its fixed-base operations (FBO) – comprising services like fuelling, hangarage and VIP passenger handling – at its state of the art terminals in Doha and Biggin Hill, London.
Rizon Jet Receives New Maintenance Approvals in Doha and London Biggin Hill
Qatar-based private aviation company Rizon Jet has been granted a number of new approvals, allowing the company to increase the range of services it offers to its international clients. The Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation has granted approval to Rizon Jet’s Doha facility, so now both the company’s bases in the Middle East and in London at Biggin Hill Airport, are able to maintain and repair Bermuda-registered aircraft under an AMO Certificate.
In London, the MRO has added the Learjet 45 and the Bombardier Challenger 300 to its Line and Base Maintenance comprehensive list of aircraft capabilities.
Rizon Jet has fully approved and certified maintenance and repair operations in Doha and London. Both facilities are fully EASA Part-145 compliant and hold approvals from a number of different states around the world, including the UK and Qatar. The centers offer AOG support on a wide range of Bombardier and Hawker aircraft.
Forecasting a growth in demand for private business and leisure jet charter, Rizon Jet’s fleet comprises two Challenger 605, and a Hawker 900XP, with UK affiliate Oryx Jet providing access to additional aircraft, including two helicopters. Rizon Jet’s managed fleet includes a third Challenger 605, which is available for private charter, a Bombardier Global Express, and an Airbus A319 which is due to join on a private management contract in 2013.
Comair to Cease Operations
Delta Air Lines announced its subsidiary, Comair, Inc. will cease operations after Sept. 29, 2012.
In a memo issued on July 27, 2012 to the officers and directors of Delta Air Lines, Don Bornhorst, senior vice president of Delta Connection, said:
“While regional flying has and will remain a key component of Delta’s network, customer expectations and the unit costs of regional flying have evolved. In response, Delta recently announced its plans to reduce the total number of regional jets in its network while adding more mainline flying. This includes reducing the number of 50-seat regional jets from nearly 350 aircraft to 125 or fewer in the upcoming years. As a result of this reduction and changes to its customer-focused business strategy, Delta has made the difficult decision to cease Comair’s operations.”
Ryan Gumm, president of Comair, communicated Delta’s decision this morning to Comair employees in a memo.
The discontinuation of Comair’s operations will not result in any significant changes to Delta’s network, which has enough flexibility to accommodate these changes. Currently, Comair accounts for approximately one percent of Delta’s network capacity. There will be no disruption to customers and no significant adjustments to Delta’s flight schedule or locations served, according to Delta.
Delta says Cincinnati will continue to be an important market in their worldwide network. The company says Cincinnati is now a profitable market and the city continues to enjoy more than 120 peak daily flights, with non-stop service to 49 destinations. No reductions in the number of Delta flights are planned at Cincinnati as a result of this decision, they say.

Altius Consulting Launches Process Management in Energy Webinar Series
Altius Consulting, a leading Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management consultancy based in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the United States, will kick off a three part webinar series in June 2012 discussing improved Process Management specifically relating to the oil, gas and energy industry.
The complimentary online event will begin on June 27th, and continues into August.
In order to meet the needs of an evolving economy and increasing energy demands, companies need to stay competitive by obtaining business insights, and the ability to use the right information at the right time. In addition, they must always be adjusting because new and important trends are regularly changing the way software is developed and deployed. Some of these new trends include big data (large data sets), tools moving into the hands of end users, connecting business and technology, and data and analytics in the cloud.
Phillips will begin by discussing how to effectively manage Year End Planning and Long Term Planning (LTP). Now more than ever, energy organizations require a trusted, cost-effective and scalable planning process that offers confidence, breakthrough insights and flexible cloud based offerings. Attendees will learn how Altius’ FlexMI technology, powered by Microsoft SQL Server, has helped major Oil and Gas companies successfully plan in the short term (1-2 years) as well as the long term (50 to 75 years) to ensure they are prepared for future energy challenges. Both planning processes support effective decision making and a clearer direction aligning companies to stay ahead of the competition.
The second webinar, scheduled for late July, will discuss how to create, manage and track Authorization for Expenditure’s (AFE’s) with ease. Senior Consultant Michael Welch will demonstrate a proven system that allows the capture of AFE data, a workflow approval process and reporting, to track and approve expenditures faster than ever before.
The Process Management in Energy Webinar series will conclude in August, covering a more effective vendor pricing and bid management process. Procurement Analysts will learn an improved process that evaluates information in hours rather than days and provides better control, governance and transparency.
Oil, Gas and Energy companies interested in participating can register here or email info.us@altiusconsulting.com.
