IAG Engine Tech appoints Max Schramm as Chief Executive Officer to lead its next phase of growth

  • Schramm will lead the development of IAG’s new engine maintenance business.
  • IAG Engine Tech will develop the industrial capabilities required to operate the LEAP Premier MRO licence awarded by CFM.

IAG Engine Tech has appointed Max Schramm as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will lead the development of the new company, established to manage the IAG Group’s engine maintenance business and accelerate its growth as a leading international player in the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector, as part of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030.

Max Schramm is an accomplished aerospace executive with more than 16 years of experience leading strategy, operations and commercial growth within the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Canada, where he established and successfully scaled the company’s Canadian subsidiary, leading its strategy, operations and growth.

Throughout his career, he has held a number of senior commercial and management positions within Lufthansa Technik and brings extensive international experience in aircraft engine maintenance, business development and industrial operations.

“Leading IAG Engine Tech is an incredibly exciting opportunity for me. The company has a very promising future and all the ingredients to become a recognised leader in the industry. It also benefits from Iberia’s proven expertise in engine maintenance and the strong management capabilities of IAG,” said Schramm.

The creation of IAG Engine Tech reflects the ongoing evolution of the aviation maintenance market and the significant industrial capabilities required to support the new generation of LEAP engines. The company has been established to develop the business associated with the LEAP Premier MRO licence awarded by CFM International to IAG, a strategic capability that places the Group among a select number of authorised providers worldwide qualified to perform maintenance on these engines.

IAG Engine Tech has been created with the objective of providing the engine maintenance business with a dedicated organisation capable of delivering the substantial investments required in facilities, equipment, technical expertise and workforce development to meet the growing demand for LEAP engine maintenance services, both for IAG Group airlines and third-party customers around the world.

The company will operate from Iberia’s engine maintenance facilities at La Muñoza, Madrid, where the first LEAP engine maintenance operations are scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2027.

Drawing on decades of industrial expertise developed by Iberia Maintenance and extensive experience in aircraft engine maintenance, IAG Engine Tech aims to become a leading player in the global market for next-generation engine MRO services, supporting the continued growth of IAG’s MRO business while developing a high-value industrial capability.
