The nose landing gear of a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner collapsed while the aircraft was parked at a gate at Frankfurt Airport. The aircraft, which was delivered just months ago in January 2026, was unoccupied at the time of the incident however several crew members and ground personnel sustained injuries and received medical treatment. The aircraft was being readied for a flight to Los Angeles at the time of the accident.
The exact cause of the unexpected gear retraction remains under investigation by German authorities and Lufthansa.
